Who are The “Welsh Wizards” & what is the PSL?

The Welsh Wizards are South Wales premier league squash team, who play their home games at Sophia Gardens.  Yes that’s right Merlin is not the only Wizard in Wales.

The “Wizards” compete in the PSL (the professional squash League). This is the squash equivalent of football’s “premier league”. This year top players from around the world will compete in the UK in the hope of obtaining the title of National champion.

Currently the whole season has been cancelled with the hope that normal service will resume on court later this year.

The League is split into north and south divisions. It is a 12 team competition, with 10 rounds of battle.  Each team will play home and away fixtures, before the top two from each division progress to the end of season playoffs.

It’s no real secret but this guy is an absolute Legend on court. Will the wizards manage to attract the mighty General back for the next season??

World number 9 and not needing any introduction is Tesni Evans. She has had nearly 6 months off with a bad ankle injury but is nearly 100% again.

Here at The Squash Pod we have had the amazing opportunity to spend time with both the Squash Wales and Welsh Wizards team Players. We are proud to call the teams our friends. Take a look at Tesni Evans telling her story and talking about her journey to the PSA.

Why not have a listen to some of the interviews we have had the pleasure of being involved with, shows are below. Massive thank you to Tesni Evans, Emyr Evans, Marwan El Shorbagy and David Evans for giving up their time to spend a few minutes with us. Find more interviews here.

When everything is back to some kind of normality come and check it all out. Hopefully we all all be rooting for the wizards starting again in October touch wood.
